From pre-school programs to post graduate university programs, Oconomowoc area residents and businesses have access to a range of educational resources.


Most Oconomowoc area young people attend schools administered by the Oconomowoc Area School District (OASD). The approximately 120-square-mile district (OASD) enrolls about 4,100 students from the city of Oconomowoc and a dozen surrounding communities in Waukesha, Jefferson and Dodge counties.

In addition to well-rounded core curriculums, OASD schools offer a variety of special programming, from enrichment courses to vocation training. Computer technology and fine arts classes are available to all students. The district does extensive preschool screening to determine each child's school readiness, and special programming for students with disabilities is provided at all grade levels.
OASD students score above the national averages on the ACT test, and the high school graduation rate is almost 98 percent. In its mission to develop lifelong learners and productive members of the community, the school district is committed to continuously evaluating and improving its programs and facilities.

Outside the classroom, Oconomowoc area students are offered the opportunity to participate in a range of extracurricular activities, from interscholastic athletics to academic clubs and organizations. Area businesses know that tomorrow's employees are in school today, and to prepare students for the future workplace they partner with the school district to provide in a variety of school-to-work programs. OASD parents express their commitment in their local schools by contributing hard-earned tax dollars and volunteering countless hours on school committees, booster clubs and helping with classroom activities.

Parents can also choose to send their children to one of the area's religion-based private schools, nationally-known boarding school or military academy.

Post-Secondary

Oconomowoc area high school graduates who want to continue their education can choose from three excellent post secondary institutions in Waukesha County. Waukesha County Technical College is a two-year state college offering certificates, diplomas and associates degrees in fields ranging from accounting to nursing. Carroll University (formally Carroll College), founded in Waukesha in 1846, is a private liberal arts college offering bachelor's and master's degrees in more than 36 fields.

University of Wisconsin, Waukesha branch, is a two-year college. Founded in 1966, the college is a freshman/sophomore liberal arts institution of the UW System. Also within a short commute of the Oconomowoc area are seven colleges or universities, including Marquette University, UW campuses in Madison, Milwaukee and Whitewater.
